Pioneers participated in a fundraising event that raised over one million dollars for victims of Hurricane Igor!
On Wednesday, September 29, 2010, Pioneers from across Canada responded to the cry for help for victims of Hurricane Igor. During the "Help for Home" radio-thon for the disaster relief fund hosted by Steele Communications, Pioneers donated more than $5000.
Locally, 28 Pioneer volunteers manned the phones and took pledges during the 12- hours radio-thon and Fort Pepperrell Life Members Club donated $500.
In addition to answering the call for those in need, Pioneers generated extensive media coverage for their organization by being mentioned many times throughout the broadcast. All VOCM Radio affiliates broadcasted the event which was heard across Newfoundland and Labrador and across North America via satellite. Pioneers are also featured several times on the video that is currently on the VOCM radio web site and on Y-tube.
Great job Pioneers!
